Restaurant Review: Douceur De France

Sometimes the most tedious part of dining out is figuring where to go and where not to go. Patch makes it easy. We scout out restaurants for you. This week: Douceur De France.

After residing for 12 years near Glover and Atlanta streets in Marietta, Douceur De Fran French Bakery and Cafe re-located this summer to 277 South Marietta Parkway, at the intersection of Powder Springs Street and the South Marietta loop. It was a good move.

There is so much more room for seating at the new restaurant--and more room to put out the luscious French pastries the cafe is known for. We went in for lunch on a crowded day just before Christmas, and everyone and everything was in a festive mood.

Service: The service was good, in spite of the busyness of the season. Our server was knowledgable about the specials of the day and good at recommendations on the menu.

Entrees: I tried the spinach and cheese quiche (what else?) and was pleased by its flavor and consistency, although it was a bit small for a lunch item. You can add a salad or side item for an additional cost.

Dessert: This is what I was waiting for. I chose a French crepe with chocolate sauce and bananas. It was very light and tasty and satisfied my sweet tooth.

It's hard to decide on desserts--there's the Napoleon, the petits fours, snowmen and Santas--all made from scratch.

Prices: Pricing is reasonable, with entrees between $4 and $8.

Rating: Overall, we were very satisfied with the service, food and environment.

Hours: Open Monday to Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Kitchen closes at 3:30 p.m.
