Armed Robbery Prompts SWAT Standoff 

The suspect in an armed robbery attempt Friday morning has been arrested without incident after barricading himself in a DeKalb residence.

An officer observed a person kicking in the rear door of a home in the 1800 block of Panola Road. A SWAT team surrounded the home and began trying to make contact with the suspect, according to DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parrish.

Students Return to Finch Elementary After Carbon Monoxide Leak

“Normalcy” was the word of the day Friday as students and staff returned to Finch Elementary School, where dozens of children and adults began the week being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning.
“Today is a return to normalcy for our children,” said Steve Smith, associate superintendent for Atlanta Public Schools. “It’s an opportunity for us to return to a normal instruction day, in their own environment.” Read more on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Tyler Perry Filming at Agnes Scott 

A large film crew descended on Agnes Scott College on Thursday as filmmaker Tyler Perry shot scenes for his movie "Single Moms Club."
