10 Metro Area Officers Arrested for Protecting Drug Dealers

United States Attorney Sally Yates held a news conference Tuesday afternoon to inform citizens about 10 metro Atlanta officers who were arrested this morning for their alleged involvement in protecting presumed cocaine traffickers.

According to Yates, the 10 arrested officers consisted of "two DeKalb County officers, two Forest Park officers, one Atlanta police officer, one Stone Mountain officer, one MARTA officer, and one contracted Federal Protection worker." Read more on Cascade Patch.

Police Seek Husband in Shooting of Woman on Emerald Court

A southwest Atlanta woman was gunned down Monday around 5:30 p.m. inside of her car on Emerald Court near the Harland Terrace neighborhood.

Atlanta Police believe the suspect is her husband, Dondrelle Moultrie, and was seen fleeing in a 2008 Teal Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with Georgia tag BCQ8516. Read more on Cascade Patch.

Freedom for Kennesaw Man Convicted of Murder

His case pending before the state's highest court, the same court that in 2008 upheld his murder conviction, former Kennesaw resident John McNeil today pleaded guilty to a lesser crime of manslaughter to end his years-long legal fight.

McNeil was sentenced to seven years in prison and 13 years probation on the manslaughter charge, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was credited with seven years time served and was expected to be released immediately, according to the AJC. Read more on Kennesaw Patch.

East Cobb Woman Held on $1M Bond

An East Cobb woman charged with taking nearly three quarters of a million dollars from her former employer remained in the Cobb County Adult Detention Facility this weekend on a $1 million bond.

The Marietta Daily Journal reported Saturday that Sharron Yvonne Rice is accused of embezzling a total of $737,414 from D.E.L. Development Co.and depositing it into a Regions bank account.

Rice was arrested on Wednesday on one count of felony theft by taking, according to Cobb Sheriff's Office records. See East Cobb Patch for more on this story.
