Freezing Rain Advisory Includes Cobb

Friday's weather alert begins at 6 a.m. and continues through 1 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday for metro Atlanta and portions of north and central Georgia, including Cobb County.

Freezing rain or freezing drizzle could cause travel difficulties, especially on bridges and overpasses, according to the NWS advisory. Accumulation is expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.

The chance of precipitation Friday morning is 60 percent, with temperatures forecast to be only in the high 30s in the East Cobb area.

The line of the potential freezing rain stretches from Carrollton and Newnan to Athens, and includes Marietta and Cobb.

The weekend weather in the Cobb area will be sunny and a bit warmer, with highs on Saturday and Sunday reaching into the high 40s.
