Flash Flood Warning for Northeast Cobb County
The National Weather Service issued the alert at 11:50 p.m. Wedneday evening.
Sewell Mill Creek is the focus of a Flash Flood Warning issued by the National Weather Service.
According to the warning, rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches have accumulated in the creek since 9:30 p.m. It is predicted that another inch may fall before the storm leaves the area at around 1 a.m. Thursday. This creek puts areas of Sandy Plains and Sweat Mountain under threat of flash flooding.
The warning states that at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the gauge at Roswell Road that monitors Sewell Mill Creek was at 7.3 feet and rising. Flood stage of the creek is 12 feet. It is expected that the creek will exceed its flood stage sometime after midnight and recede rapidly by sunrise on Thursday morning.

People in the at-risk area are instructed to move to higher ground if flash flooding is observed.
