Cobb EMC Steak Out honors law enforcement

Cobb EMC’s eighth annual Steak Out event celebrated local law enforcement who protect and serve citizens across the cooperative’s five-county service district.

The appreciation lunch, which was held at Cobb EMC’s headquarters, honored each invited department’s top-performing officers and deputies. More than 150 guests enjoyed juicy, hot-off-the-grill steaks from LongHorn® Steakhouse of Acworth, live music by the Old Mill Road Band and door prizes.

Prior to remarks, Brittnee Prince sang God Bless America, while former Cobb EMC interns Alexis and Camille Fish played the National Anthem on violins. The lunch kicked off with a safety message from Kevan Espy, vice president of marketing and corporate communications, encouraging attendees to stay hydrated, much like we encourage our crews to stay hydrated on the job. Espy also thanked attendees for everything they do for the communities we serve.

Cobb EMC board chairman David Tennant ended remarks with a message of thanks:
Thanks for coming. We appreciate everything you do. Never hesitate to call if there is ever anything we can do for you.

Other invited guests included local government officials including Donnie Henriques, the Mayor of Woodstock; Mark Mathews, the Mayor of Kennesaw; Jim Still, the Mayor of Mountain Park and Pat Vaughn, the Mayor of Powder Springs.

Steak Out is one of Cobb EMC’s many long-standing traditions of thanking public safety personnel in our service district. We are committed to honoring deserving organizations who make our community a better place and who take risks for our safety. This year marks Cobb EMC’s 20th for sponsoring the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce’s Public Safety Appreciation Breakfast. The event is held during Public Safety Appreciation Week and honors public safety heroes, law enforcement and first responders in our community.
