Overview: Whitlock’s Bar and Grill in West Cobb is a fine dining restaurant with a contemporary edge, great food and affordable prices.
Recently renovated, its décor boasts a new wood and stone design, large booths and the soft background music of a New York piano bar. If you are more familiar with this restaurant as the former Chicago’s, Whitlock's Bar and Grill's general manager Carlos Jiminez is eager to point out the updates and differences between the two.
Along with the updated interior is a new menu. Angus beef and fresh seafood are still the most popular menu choices and Chicago fans will appreciate seeing many of their favorite entrees listed. While the old menu was large, extensive and a little laborious to navigate, the new menu is more succinct and has easier-to-read sections. It is still large, varied and features a delicious Sunday Brunch.
Kids eat free on Saturdays at Whitlock's Grill. Regulars love piano player Danny Staggs. Sing along and dance all night with Staggs on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Open Mike night on Sundays from 6 to 9 p.m.
The newest change at Whitlock's Grill is designed to bring fine dining to its customers: Whitlock's Grill will now offer delivery service weekdays to homes and businesses nearby. Go to www.whitlocksbarandgrill.com for details, information and online menus.
It’s a difficult menu to choose from because everything looks good and there are so many choices. The following are my suggestions:
Appetizer: Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Tortilla Chips. $7.95
Soup: Baked French Onion Soup Au Gratin. Whitlock’s has the best French Onion soup in town. A rich broth with sautéed onions, the toasted bread chunk on top smothered with hot mozzarella cheese. $4.95
Angus Roasted Prime Rib of Beef 8 oz. $15.95 Add Au Poivre preparation with Cognac sauce and fried shoestring onions. $3.95
Grilled Salmon or Tilapia Oscar topped with crab meat and Béarnaise sauce served with steamed broccoli. $16.95
North Georgia Trout pecan crusted, grilled or horseradish encrusted with choice of a side. $16.95
Dessert: Whitlock’s Tiramisu: Amazing version of this all time classic, made with real mascarpone cheese and French lady fingers soaked in espresso coffee with Kahlua liquor topped with coffee infused whipped cream. $5.25.
Saturday and Sunday Brunch 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Crème Brulee French Toast: Thick cut brioche bread dipped in batter and pan fried to order, with a crust of caramelized sugar and warm maple syrup, served with crispy bacon and fruit cup. $7.95
- Southern Style Ham and Biscuits: Fresh baked biscuits with scrambled eggs, sawmill country gravy and a generous slice of country ham. $9.95
