Father’s Day Fun Guide!

Father's Day is coming up...Get some ideas to make his day special!

 Father's Day is around the corner so if you haven't started thinking about getting the kids organized to make his day special then keep reading!

Have the kids make a masterpiece for dad! There are LOTS of free (or cheap) craft workshops with special projects to make just for dad over the next week!

 Michaels Craft Store is having 6 different Father’s Day Make It & Take It Workshops beginning Saturday. Tomorrow’s workshop is a Father’s Day Frame from 10-12 for ages 3 and up.  Purchase the frame for only $1 to participate in the workshop.

 Home Depot is having an extra Kid’s Workshop this month in honor of Father’s Day. Kids can build a tool box tomorrow, June 18th. Drop-in from 9-12 to your local Home Depot! FREE

Tomorrow at 10am, kid’s can make their own “Goofy Golf” putt-putt game to play with dad at participating Lowe’s Build & Grow FREE Workshop. You can just drop-in but it’s best to pre-register online.

Lakeshore Learning craft sessions has great projects this weekend and next that would make great gifts for dad or grandpa. Design a Drink Holder for dad this Saturday or on June 18th design a wallet. The craft sessions are free and drop-in anytime between 11am-3pm (4287 Roswell Road, Marietta).

The simplest and most precious gift is the gift of time! Ask your kids what activity they’d like to do with dad. Have them design a card or draw a picture to show what their day together will be. Here are some ideas of things going on to get the brainstorming going!

Go Stargazing with Dad during “The Sky Tonight” planetarium show at Fernbank Science Center. An astronomer leads the tour through the constellations, planets and events of the evening sky. Take dad canoeing - it’s Family Canoe Day at the Chattahoochee Nature Center on Sunday, June 19th from10:00 – 11:30 AM. Learn boat basics and paddling techniques & then put your skills to test on the pond.  This is a popular program for Father’s Day so schedule your trip with Dad today!  For ages 5 to adult.  Dazzle Dad at Zoo Atlanta: On Sunday, June 19, fathers enjoy FREE admission with purchase of a full price child (ages 3-11) or adult general admission ticket.

 Frolick in the flowers! At the Atlanta Botanical Gardens dads get half price admission (Garden members free ) on Sunday, June 19th.  “Farm Burger” will heat things up with cooking demonstrations and samples. Storza Woods will echo with the drumming and stories of Chetter Galloway at 1 and 2 p.m. Families can also enjoy live music from the Bluegrass Sound Band, games, crafts and the Botanical Express Ride-on-Train.

 “Date with Dad” at the American Girl Store at Northpoint Mall at 11am Sunday, June 19th. A Dad/Daughter special meal, an American Girl book, a commemorative photo and frame, and keepsakes to take home! Skate with Dad at “Kid Fun Skate” Saturday, June 18th from 10:30-1 at Kennesaw Sparkles. $8 admission $3.50 skate rental; This is session is not age restricted but they gear this session towards children 8 and younger with kid friendly music and a visit from their mascot, Sparky the Bear!
