Teacher Spotlight: Victoria Spencer Smith

Smith is an instructor at The Art Place-Mountain View who teaches actors, writers and directors of every discipline how to increase their core awareness of what dropping into character really means.

Victoria Spencer Smith grew up in Atlanta an only child. She says that is probably why she still loves playing cops and robbers.

She does not have an accent unless she needs to call on her Southern roots. She visits with her grandmother to enjoy the company, and get the accent right.

Smith loves a good laugh and making everyone around her a little happier and free. Her greatest joy (outside of working with dynamic, creative people who trust in the synergy of the universe) is watching her son grow so gracefully and pure of soul. She can always take a lesson or two from an eight year old.

Her magic is just around the corner willing the characters and the story to come to life through hard work, and of course blood, sweat and tears. She's always willing to go there…wherever that may be.

Smith will be introducing 16 and up youth and adults to:

DROP-A Dynamic Exercise for Artists of Every Discipline (age 16+).
Drop is a dynamic physical excercise class designed originally by writer and personal/private coach, Susan Batson. Actors, writers and directors (artists of every discipline) will increase their core awareness of what dropping into character really means and how to effectively have an inner life that is full. Every Artist will learn how to drop in to another person's place of being by physically following the inside artist focus and awareness. Great way to connect emotionally and physically using their moment of truth. The class is eight weeks at The Art Place-Mountain View located at 3330 Sandy Plains Rd.
Fee: $80 (R) $105 (N).
