Get Out to Miss Mary's Ice Cream Crankin'

It's Thursday, the weekend is around the corner, and you have no idea what to do. At Northeast Cobb Patch, we have compiled the best bets for a great weekend.

Essential Cobb happenings for the weekend:

1.Who doesn't love ice cream? The whole family will enjoy the 7th Annual Miss Mary’s Ice Cream Crankin’ benefiting The Drake House which provides short-term crisis housing to homeless mothers and their children. Taste over 100 unique flavors of homemade ice cream. There will be ice cream eating and stacking contests, music, entertainment, face painting and children’s games. 2. Shop for clothes and whet your sweet tooth at the Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Consignment and Bake Sale. No children are allowed on the sales floor until 12 p.m. Childcare is available 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. for $4/hour per child with a maximum $8 per family. Stop by Friday 9:30 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. 4385 Lower Roswell Road, East Cobb.

3. If bareback riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, roping, and barrel racing is your thing, visit the Cobb County Rodeo. Proceeds benefit the Cobb County Sheriff Mounted Patrol Unit. Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Advance tickets: $12/adults; $10/children. At gate: $15/adults; $12/children. Kids under age 5 are free. Jim Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta. 5. Partake of the culinary arts at a Cook's Warehouse cooking class at East Cobb Whole Foods, Sunday 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Whole Foods is located in the Merchant’s Walk shopping center at 1311 Johnson Ferry Road. Sign up for the class at Customer Service.
