Northeast Cobb businesses, schools, and public safety buildings fly the flag to celebrate Independence Day.

The American flag is proudly flown on many occasions, like Independence Day. It has become a powerful symbol of Americanism, and for many people, flying the flag has deep, personal meaning.

"I lost my uncle during the terrorist attack on September 11," said Northeast Cobb resident Bonnie Clark. "When I fly the flag on the Fourth of July, it has a much deeper meaning to our family. It symbolizes freedom, liberty, and overcoming opposing forces. It is flown in honor of my uncle and all those innocent lives lost at times of war or terrorism. It is always flown with respect and honor to the men and women of our police, military, emergency services..... all those who risk their lives to keep order and peace in our lives."

What special meaning does flying the American flag have for you and your family?
