Veterans Day Events

Veterans Day is Friday. Here is a list of events honoring veterans in and around Northeast Cobb.

Fifth-grade students at Shallowford Falls Elementary will present that school’s Thirteenth Annual Veteran’s Day Concert on Friday. Two performances are scheduled, at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Patriotic music, dance numbers, and a moving tribute to our armed forces members past and present are planned. A reception will follow each performance. Approximately 125 students along with several professional guest musicians will join together to honor veterans in the community. The public is invited, especially veterans. For more information, contact Donna Swan, music teacher. Shallowford Falls Elementary is located at 3529 Lassiter Road.

The students of will present a Veterans Day celebration, “Thanking Those Who’ve Served,” at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The program will consist of musical tributes set to photographs of American servicemen and scenes of America, scripted to a patriotic narrative honoring our nation’s servicemen. This event is being held in partnership with Operation Stars and Stripes, who will be collecting items at the program for distribution to our deployed service members during the Holiday season. The program is free and open to the public. Faith Lutheran Church and School is located at 2111 Lower Roswell Rd.

The City of Marietta and the Marietta Kiwanis Club is hosting a Veterans Day parade happening on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the and marching through the Marietta Square followed by a ceremony at noon at Glover Park. Participants will include the marching bands, including , and and high schools will be among the JRROTC units present. Ceremonies on the Square will start at noon and end around 1.

From now through Jan. 2, The is hosting The Tuskegee Airmen exhibit which explores the history & heroism of the first African-American pilots to fly in combat during WWII. Visit www.cobbcat.org and Tuskegee exhibit for more information.
