Riveting Skills Workshop

What's happening in Northeast Cobb today.

Between you and me, I'm not happy with today's 5 Things column. There just isn't much happening in Northeast Cobb today. I searched the Internet until my eyeballs crossed. I contacted local community clubs. *sigh* I did the best that I could.

If I missed anything, please add it in the Comment Box below.

News tips are always welcome. Give me a heads-up about your group's activities and I will list it in the 5 Things column.

1. Riveting Skills Workshop at the Cobb County Gem and Mineral Society. This workshop will concentrate on learning how to use eyelets, rivets, and tube rivets to make components which can eventually become lids to Altoids tins or jewelry - but in this 2 hour workshop we want to make lots of cold connections with copper sheet, wire, and hardware store finds.  Workshop is suitable for anyone who can drill, hammer, and cut metal with shears.  Karen will bring examples of different rivet applications to explain when rivets are useful and necessary.

The materials kit will include pre-textured copper for the base of the component, eyelets, tube rivets, rivets, wire for rivets and riveting, tiny washers, charms and metal cutouts, and handouts.  Kit price is $3.00. Or you can bring your own sheet, 14ga and 18ga wire, and decorative elements.
