Relay for Life, Theater, and Majestic Views

Treat yourself to a few activities this weekend around Northeast Cobb and surrounding areas.

1. Set Apart Band
When/Where: Sunday 7 p.m. at Swayze's Venue; 2543 Bells Ferry Rd, Ste 650.
Why go: Enjoy the music from the five-piece Atlanta based band, "Set Apart." Also hear music by A Fight For Life, A Love Not Lost, When We Could Dream, and The Armory.
Price: $10 a ticket.

2. Cobb Relay for Life
When/Where:  Friday, 5:30 p.m. Survivor Reception (free for survivors and one caregiver). Relay for Life: 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. Sign up at www.cobbrelay.org. Jim Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road. More information, call 770-429-0089.
Why go: You are, or know, a cancer survivor. You want to support cancer research, meet new friends and exercise. In its 18th year, the event brings together the community to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer.
Price: $10.

3. Moonlight & Magnolias
When/Where: Show times: Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 2 p.m. The Art Place - Mountain View is located at 3330 Sandy Plains Road.  
Why go: You enjoy community theater. Inspired by Gone with the Wind. The play is rated PG-13. The characters consume many peanuts (and bananas) during the course of the play. As time passes, numerous peanuts will be shelled and scattered shells will accumulate on the set. Audience members with severe peanut allergies should be aware that there is a possibility that peanut dust will be released into the air.
Price: $12 a ticket.

4.
When/Where:  Saturday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Taste of East Cobb at , benefiting the Walton Band.
Why go: Enjoy tastes from the area’s finest restaurants; fine art & crafts; six huge inflatables; sand art, spin art and face painting, performances by jazz bands; silent auction; beverage and dessert booths and the “Best of Taste of East Cobb” voting contest.
Price: Free admission. Tastes are $1 to $5. Cash only event. Rain or shine.

5. Hike Kennesaw Mountain
When/Where: Daily until dusk. 900 Kennesaw Mountian Drive,
Kennesaw.
Why go: Take mom to the top of Kennesaw Mountain and let her enjoy a majestic view of the city. The family can bond during this special outing.
Price: Free.
