Relax with Yoga

What's happening in Northeast Cobb today.

1. Have you ever considered learning yoga? According to Wikipedia, yoga refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines that originated in India.[1] The word is associated with meditative practices in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.[2][3][4] Within Hinduism, it refers to one of the six orthodox (āstika) schools of Hindu philosophy, and to the goal towards which that school directs its practices.[5][6] In Jainism, yoga is the sum total of all activities — mental, verbal and physical.

Relax your mind, and revitalize your spirit and physical body at Yoga with Carolyn Purvis, this evening at Unity North Atlanta Church. The class meets in Kidz Rooms 1 and 2. 6:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. 4255 Sandy Plains Road.

2. Single? Nearly two thousand professional singles belong to Atlanta Metro Singles, a Northeast Cobb-based group that has existed for years. What better way to spend Hump Day than at Pastis, located in the heart of Historic Roswell, for Happy Hour and then dancing to the tunes of the Big Papa Band. They play everything from 80's, Mo-Town, Blues and Jazz. Happy Hour 6 p.m. Band starts 7:30 p.m. Pastis Restaurant and Bar located at 928 Canton Street, Roswell.

3. Babies Storytime 10:15 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Babies, ages 6 weeks to 18 months, and their caregivers are invited to this fun storytime with songs, stories, and fingerplays. Babies Storytime is followed by Ones Storytime 11 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. "Ones," ages 18 months to 24 months, and their caregivers are invited to hear stories and sing songs. 4. The Marietta Billiard Club offers free pool for women every Wednesday and Sunday after 6 p.m. During the weekdays amateur pools players are offered a free pool game with the purchase of lunch between 12 noon and 3 p.m. 1355 Roswell Rd. For more information, call 770-971-9436.

5. If you want to help our community's children visit the Kiwanis Club of East Cobb meeting tonight. The Kiwanians work to achieve what an individual cannot accomplish alone by volunteering for civic and humanitarian projects. They meet weekly to learn more about civic issues or personal growth. Find out what you can do to help serve the needs of children in the East and Northeast Cobb community. 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Paradise South of the Border, 3605 Sandy Plains Rd.
