Mother Fights for Survival Following a Stroke

Northeast Cobb resident and alumna Ashley Johnson Lofasso is in Emory University's intensive care unit fighting for survival following a brain aneurysm and stroke this past Monday.

Lofasso is a single mother raising two teenage daughters with no other financial support. Her youngest daughter Josie attends . Her oldest daughter Kristian attends Sprayberry.

"It was only in the last couple of years that Ashley was able to buy a home in Marietta for herself and her two teenage daughters, Kristian and Josie," Lofasso's friend Nichole Ayers told Northeast Cobb Patch.

LoFasso does not have short-term disability insurance. She has limited medical insurance. She will not be able to work until she has recovered. The financial burden placed on the family could result in losing their home and car.

"We are in the process of setting up a fundraiser page for easy access to use a credit card or PayPal account, but in the meantime, donations can be given in her name at any Wells Fargo bank," said Ayers.

If you'd like to contribute to the Ashley Johnson LoFasso Donation Fund, there are three Wells Fargo locations in Northeast Cobb:

The money will be given to Ashley's mother, Jean Parrish, to help pay for the family's expenses.
