Meet Blake McCollister and Murray

Northeast Cobb Patch interviews neighbors and their pooches at the dog park.

Braving the frigid winter weather, Blake McCollister and his golden retriever Murray were out enjoying a sunny day at the recently re-opened dog park this week.

Says McCollister, “Murray is only one-and-a-half years old and he has an enormous amount of energy to burn. It’s great being able to come out to the park where he can run and play with the other dogs. I didn’t have a dog growing up. I love spending time with him."

McCollister, a native of Georgia who has lived in Northeast Cobb since he was two years old, is a graduate of where he was an active member of the school’s Lacrosse team.

“Lassiter is a great school. I made a lot of good friends there. One if my best friends is actually going to the same college as me,” said McCollister.

McCollister is currently enrolled at Georgia Southern University. He is majoring in Finance.

“I’m particularly interested in financial investments and risk analysis," he said. “When I graduate, I’d like to work somewhere similar to Northeast Cobb, not too big, but not really rural either. Maybe somewhere like Jacksonville.”

Citing the friendliness of the residents and a wide variety of community activities as some of the best things about living in Northeast Cobb, McCollister only has one thing he would change about the area.

“It would be nice if there was a small downtown-like area where people could hang out. A little more nightlife would be a plus,” said McCollister.

Be sure to visit the leash-free dog park to spend time outdoors in a friendly environment. Who knows, you could be our next Sweat Mountain Dog Park “citizen of the week."
