Marietta Greek Festival Starts Friday

Food, fun, music, shopping and more return to the Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church this weekend.

The 23rd annual Marietta Greek Festival is returning to Northeast Cobb this weekend, as the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church will again be the venue for three days of celebration.

The event kicks off with free admission from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. For the rest of the weekend (Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) admission is $4. Children under 12 are admitted free.

In addition to the usual samplings of traditional Greek fare, vendors, music and dancing, visitors can take tours of the church's Byzantine sanctuary.

The church tours are from 4-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, and 12-5 p.m. Sunday.

At 6 p.m Saturday, Rev. Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou will deliver a lecture, "Holy Icons: Windows into Heaven."
