This fall's Mabry Park at the Park Preview event takes place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Participants will learn more about the beautiful 26 acres of park land. Activities will include a walking tour of the park, exploring the fire truck and meeting Diesel from the K-9 patrol.
Mabry Park is located near the corner of Sandy Plains Road and Wesley Chapel Road in Northeast Cobb.
Parking is located at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 4495 Sandy Plains Road.
The Friends of Mabry Park organization is working to convert a portion of the former Mabry Farm property into passive park space.
The land was purchased by Cobb County with the proceeds from a 2006 bond referendum, but developmental plans are contingent on the construction of an access road to the property from Wesley Chapel Road.
The Friends organization was formed as a non-profit volunter organization in 2009 and paid for the park's master plan (see attached PDF). It continues to fundraise for its development.
The Nov. 10 tours are free and open to the public, but good walking shoes are recommended for all visitors.
