Happy Bastille Day, Harry Potter

Here's what you need to know to start the day July 14.

1. It’s still steamy outside for Bastille Day, but relief is on the way. The high today will be only 92, the National Weather Service says. There’s a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, and a 30 percent chance overnight, when the low will be about 74. The front moving through will mark a break in the weather: The high Friday will be in the lower 80s.

2. Cobb County police on Wednesday night after Annie L. Smith went missing from a Northeast Cobb nursing home. The 57-year-old has dementia and suffers from asthma, and she doesn’t have her medication with her.

3. All of the heat and humidity outside make it a good day to stay inside and watch a movie, and the Mountain View Regional Library makes it easy for the whole family at 3 p.m. with a free showing of Snow Dogs as part of its Globe Trekking Family Films series. Call 770-509-2725 for more information.
