Get Out ... to a Chattahoochee River Adventure?

It's Thursday, the weekend is around the corner, and you have no idea what to do. At Northeast Cobb Patch, we have compiled the best bets for a great weekend.

Essential Cobb happenings for the weekend:

1. Dance to a Jimmy Buffet Tribute Show with Jeff Pike. This energetic, outrageously fun Buffett band will whisk you away to a beach where it’s 5 o’clock somewhere–margarita time! Ages 18+. Friday at 8 p.m. $12 in advance. $15 day of event. Earl Smith Strand Theatre, 117 North Park Square. More info: 770-291-0080.

2. Free Home Depot kids workshop. The first Saturday of the month at most Home Depot stores from 9 a.m. to noon. They’re geared toward kids ages 5 to 12 as a way to teach do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, but even toddlers can get in on the fun with a little help from Mom or Dad. On their first visit, kids are given their very own orange apron (similar to the ones the Home Depot folks wear). Bring the apron back each time and collect pins showcasing that week’s project. An award certificate is presented to each child along with the pin upon completion of that day’s project.

Judging is based on private interview, talent, evening gown and physical fitness. The new Miss Cobb County will be crowned by the reigning Miss Cobb County, Briana Jewett.

4. Watch the 22nd annual Ms. Senior Georgia Pageant. Saturday and Sunday at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center in Historic Roswell. The preliminaries will be held Saturday afternoon at 2, with the finale Sunday afternoon at 2.
