Get Out: Circus Olympus, Paper Mill Market, Cobb Wind Symphony

Get out and enjoy arts, entertainment and events this weekend.

Where/When: The Pope High school theater. Today, Friday and Saturday 7 p.m.

Why Go: The Pope Drama Club and Thespian Troupe announces an evening of comedy with the production of “Circus Olympus.” When 5 Greek mythology “geeks” decide to present some traditional Greek tales in their own quirky way, it just may turn Mt. Olympus into a three-ring circus! Will hades get a date? What really does go on with Pandora’s Box, anyway? Come find out!

2. 26th ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO WOMEN OF ACHIEVEMENT

Where/When: Cobb Galleria Center, Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Each year, the YWCA of Northwest Georgia holds its annual Tribute to Women of Achievement event. Last year’s event was a tremendous success and the organization raised over $94,000. Enjoy an auction of over 150 purses and other items, great food and mingle with old and new friends.

This event is vital to the YWCA and its continued efforts to provide services to its clients who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault as it is the major fundraiser for this organization.

3.COMMUNITY ARTS CABARET TALENT SHOW

Where/When: Mountain View Community Center, 3400 Sandy Plains Road.
Saturday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: You enjoy live theatre and want to support it. It's fun to watch a variety show of singing, dancing, acting, joke telling, juggling, cheerleading and more.

Pricing: Adults $10. Students $8. Performers free. $50 for table of six. $25 maximum per family.

4. COBB WIND SYMPHONY YOUNG PEOPLE'S CONCERT

Where/When: Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center, Kennesaw State University, 1000 Chastain Road, Kennesaw. Sunday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: Arrive at 2 p.m. and enjoy the musical instrument “petting zoo” provided by Ken Stanton Music. Cobb County middle school students will perform with the Cobb Wind Symphony. Patrons will be treated to a wide variety of music from Harry Potter to The Incredibles to Bugler’s Holiday. The full concert band as well as several smaller instrumental groups will demonstrate various instruments of the band in their performances.

5. PAPER MILL MARKET

Where/When: Paper Mill Village, 255 Village Parkway, Marietta. More info: www.papermillmarket.com. Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go: The whole family will have fun at this 2-day European-style tented event featuring art, vintage furnishings, handcrafted jewelry and gifts and gourmet foods. 

Pricing: Free admission.
