Fun Independence Day Recipes for Kids

Fourth of July picnics are fun for the whole family. Your kids will enjoy helping with the food preparation using these easy, fun drink and dessert recipes from Disney's Family Fun Magazine.

Spangled Sandwich Pops

Ingredients

  • Ice-cream sandwiches
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Red, white and blye sprinkles or nonpareils
  • Cake liners

Instructions: Skewer mini ice-cream sandwiches on popsicle sticks. Press the exposed filling into a plate of sprinkles or nonpareils.To keep the sprinkle mess to a minimum, serve the pops in colorful cupcake liners.

Frosty Fireworks

Make a splash this Fourth of July is by serving glasses of Patriot's Punch. Your kids will love the colorful drink and taste.

Ingredients

  • Red or blue fruit-flavored beverage
  • Seltzer water (flavored or plain)

Instructions: Fill an ice cube tray with a red or blue fruit-flavored beverage (such as Powerade, or Kool-Aid) and let the cubes freeze solid. Drop three or four colored cubes into each glass, pour in flavored seltzer water or clear soda, and watch the special effects. As the cubes melt, colored bubbles will swirl through the seltzer.

Star-Spangled Dessert

Healthy, easy and looks patriotic.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Cream Cheese
  • Blueberries
  • Sugar

Clean and hull five strawberries, then add whipped cream cheese to the top of each one. Sprinkle sugar on the cream cheese. Top each strawberry with a blueberry and arrange them like the picture.
