St. Andrew UMC Hosts Breakfast With the Bunny and Easter Egg Scramble on Saturday, April 7

St. Andrew United Methodist Church of Marietta invites area youngsters to bring their parents and begin celebrating Easter by having Breakfast With the Bunny and taking part in our annual Easter Egg Scramble Saturday, April 7, 2012.

“Breakfast With the Bunny has been a highlight of Easter weekend for the children of our church and the surrounding community for many years,” said Lisa Springer, director of youth ministries at St. Andrew UMC. “We encourage every youngster in our area to corral his or her parents and join us for this unforgettable annual event.”

Congregation members will begin serving breakfast in St. Andrew UMC’s Keheley Center at 9 a.m. In addition to a tasty pancake breakfast, youngsters will have an opportunity to visit and take photos with the Easter Bunny as it makes its annual appearance at the event. The cost for breakfast is $4.50 for adults and $2 for children. Children under 2 can eat free.

“The breakfast is hosted by both of St. Andrew UMC’s Youth Music groups to raise money for St. Andrew missions,” Springer said. “This summer we will send almost 100 people to Tybee Island near Savannah, GA; Montgomery, AL; Jackson, MS; and mountains of Appalachia on mission trips to serve in those communities.”

Due to the popularity of this event, reservations are required. To make reservations, please call Lisa Springer at 770-926-3488.

Immediately following the Breakfast With the Bunny, St. Andrew will also host its annual Easter Egg Scramble. Children can gather on the church’s east lawn to collect their share of thousands of eggs filled with candy and prizes. The Easter Egg Scramble will get under way at 10 a.m., when St. Andrew UMC’s Director of Children’s Ministries Marcie Millholland signals for participants to start filling their baskets.

“The Easter Egg Scramble is always a lot of fun for children, parents, and grandparents alike,” Millholland said. “The memories will last a lifetime.”

St. Andrew United Methodist Church is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012. Founded in April 1962 by a small group of dedicated Methodists who originally met at Blackwell School, St. Andrew United Methodist Church takes pride in being a family of caring, nurturing followers of Jesus Christ who welcome all those seeking to know and grow in God’s service.

Church founders chose the name St. Andrew because the apostle Andrew is considered a “do-er,” doing the work of the Lord. The first sanctuary, completed in 1964, is now our Community Room. Today, our church family has grown to include more than 350 families dedicated to doing the work of the Lord. Church members accomplish this through various ministries in which we hope all members of our congregation will become involved.

St. Andrew UMC’s congregation includes residents of Marietta, Kennesaw, and other communities in northern Cobb County, as well as residents of Woodstock, Towne Lake, and other communities in southern Cherokee
County.
