Cobb Public Health Offers Free HIV Testing This Week

Friday's event takes place at the CDPH Marietta Public Health Center.

On Friday, Sept. 27, Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) will provide free, rapid HIV testing and counseling at the CDPH Marietta Public Health Center, at 1650 County Services Parkway in Marietta, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1,148,200 persons aged 13 years and older are living with HIV infection, including 207,600 (18.1%) who are unaware of their infection, according to a press release from Cobb & Douglas Public Health.

Over the past decade, the number of people living with HIV has increased, while the annual number of new HIV infections has remained relatively stable, according to the release. 

“Events such as this one provide residents with critical information and resources to help fight this epidemic”, said Priti Kolhe, HIV Program Manager, Cobb & Douglas Public Health, in the press release.
