CFR's Oscar Party at Cobb Energy

The Feb. 24 event will benefit the Marietta non-profit's work assisting homeless families.

Oscar Sunday is almost here and The Center for Family Resources (CFR) is hosting the only officially sanctioned Oscar party in the state of Georgia at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. 

Sunday, February 24, John Bachmann, ABC news anchor will emcee the evening as city officials, fortune 500 companies, celebrities and community members celebrate The 85th Annual Oscar awards.

The CFR, a non-profit organization based in Marietta, is in its 13th year of hosting the event where a live auction featuring high end trips to foreign locations, dinner with University of Georgia athletes will be up for bidding. 

This black tie affair brings community members together to support a non-profit that helps homeless families become self-sufficient and work toward making them contributing members of society. In past years, more than $300,000 was raised for the CFR.

Oscar Experience, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ grassroots program that enables local charities to host glamorous Oscar® viewing parties and raise money for their organizations, kicks off its 20th year in 2012.  Since its inception in 1994, the program has generated more than $30 million in funding for a wide spectrum of charitable organizations – every cent staying within the community where it was raised. 

Since 1960, CFR has helped thousands of low-income families with temporary financial and food assistance, employment, education, and housing services.  Guided by organizational values of Family, Integrity, Results, Service and Teamwork, the staff at CFR is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by helping families acquire the resources they need to become independent and self-sufficient.
