Today was another great day for Dawg fans as UGA improved their record to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the SEC East. This will likely place UGA as being in third or second place in the SEC west depending on the Alabama vs. Florida game and the South Carolina vs. Auburn game later today.
As far as the game itself goes, Georgia started off strong and tapered off from there. Twenty-one of the 24 points scored by Georgia came in the first half. Georgia had two passing touchdowns (Murray to Orson Charles and Malcolm Mitchell) and a rushing touchdown by Carlton Thomas. Blair Walsh also kicked a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter. Mississippi State scored one 42-yard field goal kicked by Derek DePasquale and a pick six that was run in by Darius Slay.
Georgia finished the day with 314 yards, 160 of which were passing and 154 were rushing. Mississippi State ended with 213 yards, 157 passing and 56 rushing. Georgia and Mississippi State both had three turnovers each and both had eight penalties. Murray went 13 of 25 for his passing game which is sub par compared to the last few games.
Overall, it was a great game and a blast to watch. Whatever Georgia was doing in the first half, they need to do it the entire game, not go to the red zone and leave with no points.
