1. The kids program Cards for Troops happens today at the Gritters Library. The public is invited to make cards for the troops who are stationed overseas. The library will provide paper, crayons, and markers. All ages will be invited to create these cards. Last year Cobb libraries made a lot of wonderful cards to be sent overseas. 1. At Tuesday's meeting Board of Commissioners approved a rezoning of the Title Max property located at 4861 Canton Road, on the west side of Canton Road, north of Jamerson Road. The property is rezoned from GC to NRC for the purpose of an Addition of an Insurance Component. 2. The Board of Education will convene in a Called Meeting 9 a.m. at the Galleria 400 Building Lobby Conference Room, Atlanta.  The Board will immediately convene to Executive Session for personnel matters. 2. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division has issued a Smog Alert for metro Atlanta tomorrow, as you will see below.  The Clean Air Campaign is distributing this alert in hopes that the public might act to keep tomorrow's air as clean as possible while factors are in place for unhealthy levels of smog to form. To help improve air quality, The CAC recommends reducing driving, as half of all smog-forming emissions come from the tailpipes of cars in metro Atlanta. 2. How do you feel about the decision at Tuesday's Cobb County Planning Commission meeting to deny Marietta Recycling's land-use permit application to operate a scrap metal yard and transfer station on Canton Road?  I can only imagine the amount of metal waste produced in our large county. Since the county Board of Commissioners enacted budget amendments last week, we've had a lot of comments about Cobb employees' free use of the aquatic centers, the closing of two senior centers and relief that libraries aren't closing.  We'll publish a letter from a senior addressing the closing of the two senior centers in Saturday's Neighbors Vent.
