Stop by Northeast Cobb Patch every Tuesday to discuss the Cobb single scene.
Being single in family-oriented Northeast and East Cobb doesn't have to be dull, or scary. There are churches in our community hosting a variety of singles events. Unity North Atlanta Church exists in the heart of Northeast Cobb. Non-denominational, the church welcomes everyone regardless of religious upbringing or chosen denomination. Singles Talk Meet new friends and a potential mate this Thursday during Unity North Atlanta Church's 'Singles Talk.' The group discusses everything from dating issues to spirituality. You'll experience entertaining and thought-provoking conversations targeting …
Northeast Cobb's Atlanta Metro Singles plan to enjoy dinner and Polish vocalist Basia this evening—and you're invited. Basia launched her solo career in 1987 after many successful years with the pop band Matt Bianco. Supported by the singles "New Day for You" and "Time and Tide," her debut solo album became a platinum-selling hit in Europe and America. Her jazz-pop versatility continued to excel on future albums, and she earned more hits with "Cruising for Bruising," “Promises" and “Drunk on Love." Her fifth solo album, It's That Girl Again, was released last year.  You may also be a fan of …
Park Bench Neighborhood Pub Fundraiser  Northeast Cobb's Atlanta Metro Singles is hosting a very special singles event, and hopes that you will join the fun. If you listen to Q100 and/or The Bert Show in the morning, they have been talking about this local family, The Stark Family. The family was also featured on HLN and CNN.   This selfless couple had adopted and raised six "special-needs" children to take care of as their own for over 20 years. Not having much themselves (broken down van, no electricity in the main bedroom, and the husband lost his job over a year and a half ago), the …
Following my workout at the Northeast Cobb YMCA this morning, my friend Eve told me about this singles dance that sounds like great fun. Singles Dances Atlanta is holding a Labor Day Weekend Dance Blast Saturday starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn of Roswell located at 909 Holcomb Bridge Rd. 200 singles are expected to tear up the dance floor. Singles Dance Atlanta offers a fantastic Peavey sound system and a cool light show. They play the best dance tunes from the late 70's to modern day. Every song is a dance floor hit. It's okay if you aren't John Travolta on the dance floor - come …
I can't speak for all singles my age, but I'm looking for someone to hopefully share my life with. I can't imagine a better place to meet a potential partner than my church. Sharing spiritual beliefs is an important factor in relationships. Knowing this, churches in our community have created singles ministries. A singles ministry allows adults to connect with others and take part in spiritual studies, mission trips and social activities. Here is a list of the most popular singles ministries in East and Northeast Cobb: Single's Ministry  Sponsored by: Eastside Baptist Church Location: 2450 …
What better way to spend a hot August night than to attend a tropical singles dance? The dance is hosted by Single Life Georgia and the Unity North Atlanta Singles. "We have a large dance floor that can hold a couple hundred people, and DJ Jeff Crecelius spins great music," Unity North Atlanta Church's singles event coordinator, Al Mango, told Northeast Cobb Patch. Jeff Crecelius has been a professional DJ for 33 years. His experience also includes organizing fun singles events."I have worked with many social singles and church singles groups and my goal is to bring all of them and you …
Northeast Cobb-based Atlanta Metro Singles is offering a free movie screening tonight of 50/50.  50/50 is a movie about Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a 27 year old man, who is diagnosed with cancer. He breaks the news to his girlfriend (Bryce Dallas Howard), his best friend (Seth Rogen) and his mother (Anjelica Huston), who is also dealing with her husband (and Adam's father) who has Alzheimer's disease. Each deals with the news and subsequent treatment in different ways. In the middle of it all, Adam also seeks therapy from a young and inexperienced therapist (Anna Kendrick), assigned to him …
If you've driven through Northeast Cobb you've likely noticed the 'Single? singleeastcobb.com' signs stuck in the ground at major intersections. I decided during last night's thunderstorm to check out the website. Who knows? Maybe Mr. Right does live locally. The website is a simple form. "The Dating Solution.....for busy professionals!" is the only information given about the site's mission. The form requires a telephone number, income level, and other  personal information that I do not share until I know who I'm dealing with. I fibbed on that information. I submitted the form. The next …
Atlanta Metro Singles member, Cliff Kinsey, heads up the Children's Restoration Network. Congratulations to Single in Cobb columnist Sharon Spivey, who is now in a relationship. She has passed the torch, and I'll do what I can to help you enjoy being single in Cobb. My name is Susan. I'm 45, divorced, and I have a daughter who attends Lassiter. I'm a busybody. I live in Northeast Cobb, and, like Sharon, I enjoy attending singles events across Cobb County. I am a big fan of singles groups. There's no pressure. You meet people face-to-face. So, let's get started by reviewing singles groups in our area. Whether you like to dance, try new restaurants, hike, kayak, bicycle, or travel…
Do you believe in love at first sight? When I was a young woman, I really wanted to believe that I would one day meet a man and know instantly that he was meant for me, and only me. As I have gotten older and experienced life, I have come to realize that the perfect man just isn’t out there. I’m not bashing men; I feel it is just as hard for men as women. I think any of us, male or female, would be hard pressed to find a significant other that was absolutely one hundred percent everything we’ve ever dreamed of. It just doesn’t happen that way. After being in a relationship for several years …
Two of my girlfriends and I had a “girls night out” this weekend instead of attending a singles group event. We went to a local hotspot to shoot a game of pool and hear live music. My girlfriend and I love to shoot pool. Practice makes perfect, and we're improving with every game. We played billiards while our friend Trixie struck up a conversation with a guy she met. It wasn’t long before two young competitors approached us to play a game. Two men in their twenties asking 40-something women to play pool, hm. I thought I had heard every pick-up line in the book, that is, until Saturday night. …
Have you ever attended a singles meetup group or event in Northeast or East Cobb? If you haven't, you need to, if for no other reason than to people watch. You'll discover, especially after attending more than once, that there are so many singles unable to find a mate. You see the same faces again and again, mingling aimlessly. What is the deal? My best friend and I attended a singles meet-up group Saturday night, and I kid you not, I felt like I had traveled back in time to “Revenge of the Nerds."  It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. Picture the scene: guys wearing pocket …
