Parvo Alert If you recently adopted a puppy from the Cobb County Animal Shelter be aware that they may have been exposed to the Parvovirus. Micki Lovelace-Mitchell adopted a dog last Saturday, Baille Blue, who was diagnosed with Parvo and had to be put to sleep. Baille Blue was in run #310 with her brother. It is unknown if the brother was adopted. Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb County have alerted the shelter staff so that they can take whatever precautions they need to in the Puppy Room. Shelter Animals and Petfinder If you visit the Cobb County Animal Shelter and see animals that you later try to find on Petfinder, they may not be listed. When animals come in as strays the shelter holds them for seven days to see if the owners reclaim. Shelter volunteers post the animals for adoption on Facebook or Petfinder after seven days. Plus, with over 300 available animals for adoption at any one time, it's difficult for volunteers to keep up. Shelter Animal Transport to MARS Northeast Cobb Patch reported last week that shelter animals need donations to reach Midwest Animal Rescue (MARS) in MN. Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb County needs to raise $1,300. The transport will save animals' lives and offer a chance for adoption.
