Unemployment Rate Drops Below 7 Percent in Cobb
More county residents found jobs in April.
The unemployment rate in Cobb County dropped below 7 percent in April, a fall of three tenths of a percent. Almost 1,000 more county residents were working than in the previous month. Of the 377,630 people in the Cobb County labor force, 25,896 were unemployed in April. A year ago the unemployment rate went up to 8 percent. Find a job with the help of CareerBuilder. Goodwill to Open New Store in Cobb
Including the new site, Goodwill operates half a dozen stores in Cobb County as well as a number of stand-alone donation centers in the area.
Goodwill of North Georgia will open the doors to its 45th store location on Thursday. The new West Marietta store located at 775 Whitlock Avenue includes a drive-up donation center. The latest inspections by Cobb Public Health include visits to Cazadores Mexican Restaurant and Starbucks.
Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from a best possible score of 100. A sample inspection form is attached. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points. Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.

Thousands Attend Business Expo at Cobb Galleria
More than 150 local businesses showcased their products and services this week at the Cobb Chamber Business-to-Business Expo.
More than 150 local businesses had to opportunity to showcase their products and services Thursday at the Cobb Chamber Business-to-Business Expo. The free event attracted thousands of attendees at the Cobb Galleria Centre right here in the Smyrna-Vinings area. Cobb Chamber Chairman Greg Morgan said this year's expo has been the largest one the chamber has ever held. Exhibitors included Keep it in Cobb, which encourages residents to buy local, as well as business associations from across the county.

Woodstock Outlet Mall Job Fair To Fill Over 500 Positions
The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta's job fair next week will have a plethora of job openings available.
Next week's job fair for the Outlet Shoppes of Atlanta will have no shortage of positions that need to be filled. Over 500 part-time and full-time openings are slated to be available, ranging from management, sales associates, housekeeping, stock and maintenance work, according to a press release from the Georgia Department of Labor GDOL will team up with the outlet mall for the job fair, which will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center in Canton. Companies in NE Cobb to Fill Jobs
Revenue Management Consulting and RGIS Inventory will be at the Cobb-Cherokee Career Center this week.
Two companies will be at the Cobb-Cherokee Career Center in Northeaast Cobb this week to recruit workers. From 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Revenue Management Consulting will conduct pre-screenings and interviews for an opening at the company that requires a high school diploma and at least six months of call center or customer service experience. Revenue Management is looking for someone to receive payments and prepare statements to the credit department if customers do not respond. The position pays $8.50 to $10 an hour plus commission. The next day, RGIS Inventory will interview candidates for its travel team. The company needs someone to take inventory for various clients.
