I may be one of those people you are disparaging. I buy foreclosures and a few short sales, make…Read More repairs and rent them. You may not like your neighbors, however, in many cases, they are the same people that lost houses. It's a much better situation than having neighborhoods scattered with empty, boarded up homes.

Charles dont use this forum to cry about your addictions. This is a serious issue, not your mirror.…Read More Face those demons like a man. We are discussing why the government is making our people suffer needlessly. You may not understand this as you blame pot for your alcohol, and crack addictions. There are loads of Vets, elderly, disabled, sick, and injured that can benefit from this natural medicine. Instead it is used as a way to keep the black man down, and fill prisons for cash. Its a dirty, racist game these states play, and it costs us tax payers big! Do you pay taxes Chuck? If you do pay close attention. 50 billion dollars will be spent in the "War on Drugs" this year. That's your debt to repay to the tune of 15 trillion dollars in debt. That number is forecasting to double within the next three years. Marijuana is the largest cash crop in the world. With hemp plants growing as we speak this plant will save our corrupt, immoral, puss filled country from a catastrophic collapse.

If you follow Christ’s teachings then you must acknowledge that the sole domain for sex is the…Read More married man and woman. One of the problems in our society is the acceptance of (or participation in) a behavior simply because we find out that someone we like participates in that behavior. Whether it is a teenager who thinks doing illegal drugs is OK because their best friend does it, or those who now accept homosexuality because they have discovered a family member or friend is homosexual. One can still love the other person without embracing the particular activity. As St. Augustine wrote in the "City of God" - "the character of human will is important...since no one is evil by nature, but whoever is evil is evil by vice, whoever lives according to God should hold a perfect hatred for evil men. He should not hate the man because of his vice, or love the vice because of the man."

I sure hope that my congressman is working hard while in district and has various meetings with many groups making it hard to meet with folks on a moments notice, that may include the next day.
That said, its probably important that he meet with gun grabbers just to understand their viewpoint. If he skipped on a meeting, then shame on him, but grab our guns? I hope Price's mind is settled on that one - a resounding "NO" of course.
Want positive change? Replace any mayor who is a member of Bloomberg's gun grabbing Mayor's group including Jere Wood, and replace Price if he votes in favor of the ridiculous first step to gun confiscation.

AD...I am a believer in religion, God and the Bible and I completely disagree with the viewpoints…Read More expressed on this blog who state their opinion are based on the Bible, Christianity or religion---their opinions are based on THEIR understanding or interpretations of their religion--one reason why there are thousands of different denominations of one religion. This is why religion cannot be used as the standard or justification for policy in society--it can only be one's personal standard which is not imposed on others.
And Greg...if you look at history how many people have been slaughtered, enslaved, and oppressed in the name of religion--not a good track record to hold up religion as the standard, even when compared with those atrocities committed by the more recent states of atheism and irreligion.
Richard Pellegrino June 20, 2013 at 01:38 am
Ad...I meant to add...the highest law in Christianity is to unconditionally love your neighbors and…Read More not to judge them---everything else is secondary to that and is often used by man trying to play God to subdue others or have them conform to their belief and way of life. Any discussion of "sin" is meaningless as no one can call or point out another person's alleged "sin" and by doing so they are breaking the fundamental principles of Christianity and religion. And even "sin" in the Aramaic language which Jesus spoke and taught in was no big thing--it was an archery term meaning "missing the mark". And no one can say what the mark is for others, and who is missing it, lest they stray off their own mark. That is my understanding of Christianity in the brief--which I am sure will be disputed but that is my point.

Yes, I think they should have the choice of wearing a helmet when pitching. I think it would make…Read More the game better. As with all other protections they have that make them play better because their not worried so much about certain injuries. For example, it's like a guy wearing a cup. Not so much worry and thought about that area because they know it is protected. I think we should take advantage of our advanced era. So let's just ban the game all together as well as any other sport or activity that could…Read More potentially cause injury or accident! Good grief what a ridiculous thing to require and regulate more and more of our lives! If a player choses to do so let them but players of sports are more than aware of potential injury and assume that risk when they choose to participate. The business of sports has become way out of hand across the board. When you watch a game on tv and they are measuring the speed of the ball and it is faster than the speed limit on the expressway it's too fast! Getting the ball to the batter so they can hit it should be the goal does it really need to be thrown at the speed of sound? NO! This would greatly decrease the chance of injury by not making such a big deal about the speed of the ball. Kid's would be a lot better off if they could just play a friendly game of baseball They can't anymore because the adults in their life are grooming them to be pro and always win. Let's face it there can only be so many pro's and not all who want to play are going to produce a win every time if ever. Teach them to be kind to other players, and do their best whether they win or not. Let's get back to the basics and let sports be about fun and not business.

No, The banks should not loan money to people that have lesser credit. Stick to your 700 credit…Read More score. If you don't (banks) it will all come back to bite you in the a--. You will be blamed for another crash and you will most likely face charges etc. this time. People can make it a home until they can afford to buy without such a struggle. Besides jobs are not secure for anyone right now. As for the banks, it's too much of a risk. Owning a home is not what gets the economy going anyway, it's JOBS that get the economy going, Top and foremost!!

I was highly involved in the Real Estate Business during the rise & crash of our Market. I…Read More highly suspected during that time period that we would see enormous filings of Foreclosures & Bankruptcies. Unfortunately I didn't read the writing on the wall as clearly as I should have and held onto assets that I should have cashed out of.
We can't keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. Giving away homes & loans to buyers with nothing invested on their end will not be a long term productive process.
Habitat for Humanity applies a very good system to buyers that don't have good credit or money to invest. They set up very strict guidelines and the buyer actually invest time & effort in the building of their homes. Their interest charge is minimal if any at all but they must follow the rules set up. And these are truly "Starter Homes" not something more expensive than they can afford.
That's what needs to be promoted and not us as tax payers having to pull everyone else up without any investment on their side of the equation.
Mark Obrien April 14, 2013 at 05:41 pm
No! Are you kidding me? Hasn't this nightmare of an economy been bad enough to say the least to…Read More start over doing something that failed totally before?
People bought homes without any hard money invested on their own. All they had to do was go to some "class" for first time buyers and they were given money to buy a house. Did they invest anything but their monthly payments? No. So when they lost their job or couldn't pay what they agreed to what did they do? They walked away. Same thing would happen again.
And also people refinanced homes because prices were skyrocketing. They took out money and bought other things and sometimes other properties. Only to later not be able to sell them later because of what happened in this market. Prices dropped dramatically. We saw homes valued in the 100's of thousands of dollars only to be sold sometimes below $100,000 a few years later. Who made out like bandits after that???? The folks that had cash to go and buy these steals will be able to make lots of cash that the Banks were paid by the Govt to sell. Who i turn was paid for by the Tax Payers.
So, my answer is a big fat No.
I can only hope & pray that somewhere along the way we will get some Common Sense in our thinking.
Greg April 8, 2013 at 11:36 am
