Win Tickets to 'Young Frankenstein'

Northeast Cobb Patch is giving away a pair of tickets to the Mel Brooks musical.

If you love monsters and musicals, then Northeast Cobb Patch has the perfect contest for you.

We're giving away a pair of tickets to the opening night of Young Frankenstein at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

The show is based on the Oscar-nominated film by Mel Brooks, who created a humorous and twisted adaptation of the Mary Shelley classic. Film buffs may remember musical numbers such as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and a monstrous take on Irving Berlin’s “Puttin’ On the Ritz.”

Entering this contest is easy. All you need to do is post a comment at the bottom of this article to tell us about your favorite Mel Brooks film. Or share a comment about your favorite musical of all time.

We’ll conduct a random drawing from those entries for the Thursday night performance.

Winners will be notified by email and can pick up their tickets at Will Call the day of the show. Winners will need to have photo ID to claim the tickets.

One last detail: To qualify for the drawing, you must get your comment posted by 11:59 a.m. Wednesday, March 28.

For more details about Young Frankenstein, visit the website for the Gas South Broadway Series or the show's site.

My husband Gary and I love Young Frankenstein the best of Mel Brooks' films although Blazing Saddles comes in at a close second. His clever humor in these films keeps you laughing from the beginning to the end. We particularly enjoy a couple of scenes when Frederick Frankenstein, Igor and Inga are sitting at the dinner table eating and he says, "Did you make a yummy sound?" and each of them at the
table responds,"I didn't make a yummy sound". My husband and I usually recall this scene when we too are eating dinner and always make each other laugh. Another very funny scene is when Frankenstein meets Igor and Igor says,"Walk this way" (as to directing him where to go) and Frankenstein bends himself over as if to also have a hump in his back and walks just like him. Mel Brooks by far is the most comedic director of all time, good clean, fun humor the whole family of all ages can enjoy. This will be a play certainly to entertain !

Oh one more thing I forgot to mention, for rock and roll enthusiasts, during an interview with Steven Tyler from Aerosmith he mentions that he was inspired to make the song "Walk this Way" after watching the Young Frankenstein movie and hearing this comment made by Igor.
