The National Weather Service reports that today will be sunny with a high near 31. There will be a northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Mostly clear tonight, with a low around 16. The northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Friday will be sunny, with a high near 39 - our first above-freezing temperature since Sunday. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph.

Partly cloudy Friday night, with a low around 25. Calm wind.

Cobb County schools remain closed today. Due to the weather and lack of road clearing resources, it is questionable whether road conditions will improve so that children can return to school Friday.

According to Cobb County School District (CCSD) spokesman Jay Dillion, there is too much ice on school parking lots, back roads and in subdivisions for buses to transport children safely.

Cobb's six city governments are open for business.

Garbage pickup across the county remains spotty. Neighborhood streets are still covered in slush and ice.

The interstates have lanes closed, congesting traffic. Ice remains on roadways. Caution is still needed when driving.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced this morning that they would like everyone to remove their abandoned vehicles from the roads.
