White Water Crime Spree Ends in Ride to Jail

Two suspects were arrested in a theft crime spree that involved 10 victims at the Marietta amusement park.

Amanda Young, 27, of Marietta and Xavier Ransom, 18, of Marietta were arrested in a theft crime spree that involved 10 victims over a three-day period at the Six Flags White Water amusement park.

Both suspects were stealing valuables from unattended bags at the theme park while the victims were on rides, according to Marietta Police.

Detectives were able to track some purchases made with stolen credit cards to the Walmart on Trade Center Parkway. With help from Walmart Loss Prevention, detectives were able to identify one of the suspects and later identify the second.

Around $2,700 worth of stolen property was returned back to the victims.  Approximately $2,500 of property was purchased with stolen credit cards, of which $400 of the property was recovered.

Young was charged with 12 felony counts of theft by taking and credit card transaction fraud and two misdemeanor counts of theft by taking. Ransom was charged with three felony counts of theft by taking and two misdemeanor counts of theft by taking.

The investigation is ongoing and both suspects still potentially face additional felony charges.

Marietta Police encourage all patrons of amusement parks to practice the Lock, Take and Hide principal in securing their valuables. Lock your valuables in your car or a locker within the park. Take only what you need with you inside the park.

If leaving your valuables inside of a vehicle, make sure that they are hidden and out of sight. Do not leave any valuables unattended while inside any amusement park.

Your title makes it sound like it was at the Six Flags Park off 20, when it was at the Water Park in Marietta. You might went to correct that because the water park should be in the title.

Thanks for the clarification Alison. White Water is owned by Six Flags, which most readers know as the park in South Cobb.
