Northeast Cobb experienced patchy fog this morning. No precipitation. The temperature is currently 32 degrees.
According to The Weather Channel, our high temperature today will reach 34 degrees with a 20 percent chance of precipitation.
Most local roads and the Interstates are open, but icy. 285, 75, and 85 have lanes open. Accidents continue to happen and be cleared from these highways, so please use extreme caution. Please do not drive if possible.
Cobb public schools, KSU, and Chattahoochee Tech campuses are closed today.
Cobb County's administrative offices opened today at 10 a.m. The Cobb County Central Library, Mountain View Library and Kennesaw Branch Library will be open today. The Tax Commissioners Office and tag offices will be closed.
Cobb Department of Transportation continues to work crews 24 hours a day to minimize the impact of snow and ice on travel in the county. Initial efforts were focused on public safety areas such as those around hospitals, fire stations and police precincts. DOT's efforts are now focused on major intersections, major roadways and some secondary roads. At this time DOT is unable to service subdivision streets.
Updates on many services are available at www.cobbcounty.org.
Tonight the low will be 20 degrees. A 20 percent chance of precipitation.
Wednesday the sun appears with a high temperature of 30 degrees. 20 percent chance of precipitation.
The temperatures day and night are below freezing, so icy road conditions will continue to be a problem over the next couple of days.

I was just at Kroger on Sandy Plains. The lines were really long as people had grocery carts full of water, bread, toilet tissue and alcohol. It's only Saturday afternoon and the stores are already depleting their supplies. The lines were backed up into the grocery isles. It may be a good idea to do your shopping before tomorrow if you want to make sure basic necessities are still available.

The Weather Channel suggests that we may get less snow Sunday night, but it looks like freezing rain and ice may be a problem. It's best to stock up. I made a trip to Walmart.
