Motorcyclist Dies After Cobb Crash

No charges are expected in the head-on collision south of Marietta on March 4.

Atlanta motorcyclist Leonard Daggett has died from injuries he suffered in a head-on collision south of Marietta last week.

The 30-year-old was riding a yellow 2000 Honda CVR929 east on Hurt Road around a curve at Old Tennessee Road about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, when he crossed the center line and slammed into a blue 2000 Honda CR-V, Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce reported in a news release today.

Daggett died of his injuries Friday at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Police do not know why Daggett crossed the double yellow line, but they believe that excessive speed played a role.

The driver of the car, 30-year-old William Hill of Hiram, was not hurt, but his passenger, 24-year-old Chandra Keyon of Marietta, was taken to nearby WellStar Cobb Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Investigators do not expect to file charges in the death, Pierce said. But police ask anyone with information about what happened to call 770-499-3987.
