Morning Briefing: Finally Friday!

We made it through another week! Here's what you need to know before heading out the door on July 6.

1. Weather: More rain is in the forecast, with chances of showers or thunderstorms reaching 30 percent after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Despite the rain, temperatures will still reach 97 degrees, with a low tonight around 72.

2. In Case You Missed It: The Mountain View Aquatic Center is closed for renovations until mid-October. Classes and events that were to be held there have been relocated to other county facilities.

Linda Hanson, who is running for the Cobb School Post 5 position currently held by David Banks, has earned the endorsement of the Cobb County Association of Educators. The association endorsed Hanson due to her strong commitment to public education.

3. Happening Now: Steve Boudreaux, who feels his house was unjustly sold in foreclosure, continues to "occupy" the property, hoping to reach a settlement that will allow him to stay in his home. He launched the 24 hour, seven day a week vigil on Monday.

4. Looking Ahead on Northeast Cobb Patch: Need some weekend getaway ideas for the family? Cobb Tots and Kids' Brooke Stanchie has done all the legwork to assemble a superb list of fun, family friendly activities happening all over the area! Look for her ideas at 9 a.m.

On This Date In History: On July 6, 1933, the first Major League Baseball All-Star Game was played at Comiskey Park in Chicago. The American League defeated the National League, 4-2.
