Lassiter Softball Reaches State Playoffs

The Lady Trojans will play Cherokee on Monday in the semifinals of the Region 5-AAAAAA tournament.

The Lassiter High School softball team keeps marching on.

On Saturday the Lady Trojans blanked Roswell 7-0 to reach the semifinals of the Region 5-AAAAAA tournament.

That win was enough to qualify them for the Class AAAAAAA state playoffs.

But first, there's some unfinished business to take care of. On Monday, No. 3 Lassiter faces Cherokee, one of two teams to beat the Lady Trojans this season.

"We just look at Cherokee as someone that we have to get through," Lassiter coach Jason Campbell told The Marietta Daily Journal. "We have a little redemption to pay, and hopefully we can do that."

In the other half of the bracket awaits Etowah or Milton.

Under Campbell, who is in his first season after coming from Hillgrove, an already-strong Lassiter program has continued to thrive.

The Lady Trojans have a record of 26-2-1 and are currently riding a 10-game winning streak. They enjoyed a 14-game streak early in the season.

And their only two losses have come at the hands of region foes Etowah, ranked sixth, and No. 8 Cherokee.
