Interfaith Speakers Discuss Fundamentalism
Representatives from six religions came to a Northeast Cobb church Sunday to discuss religion in the modern world.
Speakers from six religious groups, including Paganism and Baha'i spoke out against fundamentalism and religious antagonism during a 90-minute panel discussion at the One World Spiritual Center on Sunday.
As reported in The Marietta Daily Journal, the six speakers included representatives from Judaism, Baha'i, Paganism, Islam, New Thought Christianity and Sikhism. Though the discussion was planned long in advance, the recent shootings in a Wisconsin Sikh temple were a cause for disgust from all speakers.
“In my opinion, anybody who violates anybody’s right to live or express himself is violating the religion he expresses to be practicing,” said Sikh Preetpal Singh. “When you take a position of fundamentalism, you do not belong to any religion.”
