Will You Sign the Petition for a Balanced Calendar?

The debate over the schedule for Cobb County schools comes around again with an online petition.

Cobb Parents has created a petition using www.petitions24.com that urges the Cobb County School District to approve a balanced calendar for the 2012-13 school year.

The group, which launched a website on the calendar issue last month, seeks a schedule with an early August start date and breaks in September and February. That was the calendar the Cobb Board of Education chose to eliminate last February.

That decision came after the school board ran an online survey about the calendar but did not follow its results, which favored the balanced calendar.

Northeast Cobb Patch asked people on its Facebook page whether they would sign the petition. The initial responses:

  • 10:30 a.m., Jack Siegel: NO and not going to.
  • 11:30 a.m., Robert Owens: ‎^^^ +1000.
  • 11:30 a.m., Jack Siegel: thanks. I like how the Patch has become the mouthpiece for a small minority who think bully tactics and mob rule decide the fate of the majority.
  • 11:40 a.m., Cobb Parents: Thanks, Northeast Cobb Patch!

Do you plan to sign the petition? Will it help resolve the Cobb school calendar dispute? Share your thoughts in the Comment Box below.

What's funny Jack is that 4 members of the School Board used bully tactics to make the change in the first place even though the majority of the county said otherwise.
