The varsity volleyball teams of Lassiter, Kell and Sprayberry have a tall order on their hands tonight and Saturday, as they vie with other Cobb County volleyball squads in the Cobb County Volleyball Championship.
For the last five years, East Cobb powerhouse Pope High School has dominated the landscape, bringing home the county and state championship with regularity. Pope's ladies look just as dominant as they have in the past years, and they are favored to go all the way again.
Each team will play three games on the first day, with a host of Cobb high schools being used as venues for Thursday's first leg.
The Lady Trojans will be at North Cobb, squaring off against Marietta at 5:30. They will then play Wheeler at 6:30 and the host school at 7:30.
The Lady Jackets will be at Harrison, playing at the same three times as their counterparts from Lassiter. In order, Sprayberry will play Kell, South Cobb and the host school.
Apart from the opening game against Sprayberry, the Lady Longhorns' schedule was not available. It is safe to assume that they will be playing at Harrison, and playing both the hosts and South Cobb.
Don't Forget About Football!
The JV and Freshmen football teams of all three schools are taking the gridiron tonight.
The Longhorns will be facing Pope, with the JV squad at home. Both games start at 6 p.m. The Jackets will be up against Walton at 6, again with the JV team at home. Lassiter's freshmen will travel to Milton at 5:30, while the JV will be at home.
