Cyclist Killed on Bells Ferry Road

The accident at Wentworth Drive shut down northbound lanes of Bells Ferry Wednesday afternoon.

A bicylist was struck and killed by a car Wednesday afternoon along Bells Ferry Road, according to media reports.

The Marietta Daily Journal reported that the accident, which took place around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Bells Ferry and Wentworth Drive, killed the male cyclist, who accidentally pulled out into northbound traffic after losing control of his bike.

Cobb Police have not identified the victim, who died at the scene.

Northbound lanes of Bells Ferry were shut down and traffic was diverted on to southbound lane, according to a WSB-TV report, making the afternoon traffic commute on the busy road even more difficult.

The accident scene is located north of Shallowford Road and just south of the Cherokee County line.
