Cougars in Cobb
Young men and billiards make for a very interesting girls night out.
Two of my girlfriends and I had a “girls night out” this weekend instead of attending a singles group event. We went to a local hotspot to shoot a game of pool and hear live music.
My girlfriend and I love to shoot pool. Practice makes perfect, and we're improving with every game. We played billiards while our friend Trixie struck up a conversation with a guy she met.
It wasn’t long before two young competitors approached us to play a game. Two men in their twenties asking 40-something women to play pool, hm. I thought I had heard every pick-up line in the book, that is, until Saturday night. I was being hit on by a 24 year old, and I will admit, I was feeling pretty good about it. In between pool shots, I listened to him go on and on about wanting to take me home and teach me a few things.
“I don’t believe there is a single thing you can teach me,” I said. “I was married more years than you are old."
Exactly how old are guys when they learn these pick-up lines? And where do they learn them? It's awful.
His other pick-up line was, “Your eyes look just like my dog’s eyes." Really? Really? What kind of lame pick-up line is that?
We don't fancy ourselves cougars, so it was time to leave. My girlfriend called our designated driver for a ride. We'll call him "Charlie." The three of us are Charlie's Angels. He's a 40-something man that could teach the young bucks a thing or two about manners and how to approach a lady.
Charlie arrived. We piled into his vehicle. We told him of our adventure on the ride home.
The next day Charlie came over to my house. My girlfriends, Charlie and I ate breakfast and discussed the prior evening’s events. We looked through pictures we had taken the night before. We joked about being cougars.
Many of us married young, had children, and never experienced the adventures of being a single, young adult. When a woman is newly divorced, after decades of marriage and raising a family, she may play the part of cougar a time or two, just for the experience.
Women aren't so different than men. Once middle-aged, it is an invigorating experience to have a much younger admirer.
But seriously, there comes a time in life when you realize that you're just too old for such nonsense.
I don't know about you, but I'd much prefer to spend my time with a man like Charlie rather than cougaring with 20-somethings.
Names have been changed to protect the innocent.

This sounds very familiar Sharon but it's a two way street. A lot of women (I'll not call them cougars) like the younger guys! I personally think you need a mans point of view on this and how to treat a real lady!

Thank you for your comment Richard. Personally, I love a man's point of view. Honestly, I'm not really in to younger guys. I like a man my own age, who has had some of the same life experiences and can relate to where I am in my life right now. You really can't get that from a younger man.

Actually Don, the kids didn't buy us any drinks. We bought our own and paid for pool. If they had bought us drinks, do you think that means we would owe some debt of gratitude? I don't think so.....and I would take Charlie in a minute...at least he knows how to treat a lady.

Don, a drink is not a promise or a contract. One should never give a gift in the spirit of expecting/demanding something in return.

Good point Althea. There's another dating topic for discussion.
And since the women had the pool table paid, does that mean they should expect anything from the guys?

Well, I don't know about you and Althea, Juia, buI t am a little put off by Don't comment. He seems to believe that "supposedly" if the young guys had bought us drinks they would be due some sort of recompensation from my friend and I....what is wrong with this picture?
