Canton Road Construction Nearly Done

The project will be finished by July's end, the Cobb County Department of Transportation reports.

Scott Jordan, District 3 Cobb Department of Transportation engineer, told residents at Commissioner JoAnn Birrell's town-hall meeting Thursday that the Canton Road Phase 1 project should be completed the end of July.

The Northeast Cobb project includes Hamby Drive and Rosedale Drive to just north of Blackwell Road and New Chastain Road.

The improvements include a raised concrete median from the beginning of the project to just north of Piedmont Road and from Worley Drive to the end of the project.

Major intersection improvements will be done at Piedmont Road, Blackwell Road and New Chastain Road.

A redbrick-patterned, asphalt, flush median will be added at locations between the raised medians. Several sidewalk gaps are filled in within the project limits.

I'm sick of it already. Why did they think we needed that raised median. Now you can't use the turn lane to enter a business on the opposite side of the road. Now you have to drive past, make a U turn and come back. PAINFUL!

I dislike the changes that were made on the roads we can not enter the shopping centers with out having to make a whole turn. We also believe that it was a waste of not just a little bit of money but a whole that of money that could have been used in other ways. If the plan was to fix the roads that way it could of looked a bit nicer, there could of been flowers planted like on chasten road.
