A+ Grades for Hill, Parsons, Carson

The Georgia chapter of Americans for Prosperity has three Northeast Cobb Republicans high on its list.

The Georgia chapter of Americans for Prosperity released its 2011-2012 Georgia General Assembly Legislative scorecard earlier this month, with three Northeast Cobb legislators receiving an A+ rating.

State Sen. Judson Hill and State Reps. Don Parsons and John Carson, all Republicans, earned the designations for their votes based on the conservative group's positions.

Legislators were scored on 12 separate pieces of legislation, including Zero Based Budgeting (SB 33), Student Scholarships (HB 325), Revenue & Tax Relief Act (HB 386) and GA Government Accountability Act (HB 456).

In addition, Congressman Tom Price, a Roswell Republican who represents Northeast Cobb in the U.S. House of Representatives, earned an "A" grade from AFP.

Hill is unopposed in his bid for re-election. Parsons is being challenged by Republican Tea Party supporter JoEllen Smith in the July 31 primary. Carson, completing the unfinished term of the late Bobby Franklin, is facing minister Martin Hawley in the GOP primary.

Price will have Democratic opposition in November in the heavily Republican 6th District of Georgia.

So... "Americans for rich people getting even richer at the expense of everyone else" gives these guys an A+. That's pretty much an F in my book.

So much of a rating depends on which organization is doing the ratings. I know of some that give him as low as 13% to 22%. This is a man who never holds meetings with his constituents over all of the years he has been in office nor does he return Emails or phone calls except to major donors.

Ga Veteran
I have written hundreds of emails and never received an answer. When approached about this the one time Parsons showed up at a Republican precinct meeting, he was angry and argumentative, and blamed me for not including my address. I sent another email, with my address and also noted I was his constituent, regarding the House bill for Cobb EMC which would allow regulation. He was in charge of the Energy Committee and the bill had to go through him.

Never answered me. Finally held a hearing, did not pay attention, did not ask one question of the people who testified in favor of the bill and agreed to meet privately with the lobbyist for Cobb EMC who was not prepared to testify. Louie Hunter, the Cobb EMC lobbyist, has rewarded Parsons with many dinners and tickets while the legislation never left his committee. Our only hope of reform is to elect JoEllen Smith. Cobb EMC is still in the hands of Brown's successors who should have been fired with him and the new Board members have yet to hold an open Board meeting like was promised.

Judson Hill deserves A+++. He answers his emails personally, shows up at Republican meetings and holds Town Halls. He represents his people and deserves his seat. I contact him frequently yet he doesn't complain, is always responsive and pleasant.

This is amazing on the part of the AFP since Parsons is rarely to be found actively working on behalf of his constituencies but only his lobbyists friends. How can anyone hold a golf tournament and charge $2,000 to participate in his campaign. Who is his audience? Eighteen years (18) years. Time for a change. Vote for Joellen Smith.in the Primary.

This A+ rating makes me seriously question the rater and the rating criteria. How in the world did they give this "missing in action" elected official an A? How does he ge an A+ for being unresponsive to his constituency and owning a consulting firm that works for the agencies he oversees??? This should serve to remind us all - take what you read on blogs with a grain of salt!

My husband proudly wears the AFT T-shirt from the last election "November is coming". I am seriously considering to now use it as a dusting cloth. How could they give An A+ to Don Parsons who not only ignores his constituents by never returning e-mails no matter how serious their concern, never holds meetings to hear their problems but holds a fund raiser that costs minimum of $2000 to play golf. He squashed the EMC open meeting so that it never went to the floor. This deserves an A+. Come to think about it I am short of dusting cloths..

Wow. How come we don't see the details? Did you guys who wrote this even see the details of the rating? So the prosperous say he's doing well. What does his constituency think? Does he even know? Does he care? He never asks and he's too above them to even allow himself to be seen among the common folk. This article was a scam. It's like the drug companies doing their own research and giving raving results. Later we find out everyone got cancer from the drugs!
