5 Easy Things to do to Lose Weight

Everyone keeps asking how do I lose weight. Here are some more things to do to get ready for summer!

1. Get the bad stuff out of the house!  Stop putting temptations around you.  If you have a weakness, don’t put yourself in a situation to fall for it.  Keep healthy options available and keep bad food out of the house.

Often we eat out of habit or boredom.  Be aware of when you tend to overeat and avoid those situations.  Eat only at the kitchen table.  Don’t mindlessly snack on the couch while watching TV.

2. Stop going out to eat.  I suggest going a whole week without going out to eat at all.  Eat breakfast at home and bring your lunch to work too.  You must plan ahead and go the grocery store.  This does require some time and planning, but the results are worth it.

Keep track out your weight and see what happens.  I have seen people lose as much as 5 pounds in a week because they are eating significantly less sodium and calories.

Even if you choose the healthiest option at a restaurant, you will most likely consume many more calories than if you cooked the same dish at home.  Save going out to eat for special occasions, not just for everyday convenience.   Take a nice vacation with all the money you will save by not going out to eat every day.

3. Plan a vacation someplace warm.  There is nothing like knowing you will be in a swimsuit in public to motivate you to exercise and eat healthier.  It can be as simple as a weekend at the beach in few months.  This generally works best when it is not too far away, so you can’t wait until next week to start.

Once you book a trip, set a goal and work towards it.  The trip is a nice reward for your hard work and the pictures are going to look much better!

4. Find a partner in crime to burn calories with.  It is more fun to walk or jog while talking with someone.  Being socially active makes you happier.  Losing weight will also make you happier.  Chances are you have a friend who wants to lose weight too.

Call your friend up and invite them on a walking “date” instead of lunch or dinner.  You will not have consumed the calories from going out for Mexican and in turn, you will have burned many more calories.

5. Put your workouts in your calendar.  If you are waiting for the time to just show up in your schedule you will be waiting a long time.  People who are successful at losing weight and keeping it off, make exercise a priority.

Schedule workouts and actually put them in your calendar.  Think of it as a meeting or a preventative doctor appointment.  Don’t skip it, just reschedule it if you have something else comes up.
